I just wanted to thank you for your discussion of “Male Circumcision” in 6 series beginning here:
I am one of a number of males circumcised in infancy who is deeply disturbed that this was done to me.
I am more and more convinced that ignorance is the BIGGEST promoter of circumcision. I believe that that is the reason doctors (aka, businessmen in white suits) do not tell parents the whole story. If they did, most parents would not want it! The American Academy of Pediatrics may think that they can convince Americans to keep on forking over the money for infant circumcision since its “benefits” outweigh its unquantified risks. Well, there is finally good news for defenseless baby boys! Condemnation of the AAP’s August 2012 statement on infant circumcision comes from 38 doctors representing various international medical associations. This is groundbreaking and historic. Why? When was the last time you have heard of so many doctors and their organizations condemning one doctors’ organization?
